Why is the GMO Label Important?

Different opinions and concerns about genetic engineering and food safety are actually due to lack of knowledge. Consumers think they are being deceived. On the other hand, scientists also argue that they are misunderstood. Official institutions, on the other hand, make wasteful attempts to relieve both sides. Meanwhile, food companies trying to stay close to both sides are trying to distract consumers. It silently affixes a non-GMO label to some products and claims that these foodstuffs do not contain genetically modified organisms or their ingredients. Moreover, these claims are not based on any scientific study or the approval of an authorized institution. For all these reasons, there is a serious need for mandatory labeling of GMO products. However, in an environment where transparency can be ensured, the GMO Label will be able to carry its true meaning.

Why is the GMO Label Important?

Some responsible companies support mandatory labeling of GMO products for products that are considered better for consumers, although it is not mandatory today.

Most of the consumers are afraid of consuming GMO products and demand that these products be labeled. Today, genetically modified organisms are becoming increasingly common, and many of the foods consumed contain GMOs, either directly or as ingredients. Genetically modified corn, soybean, sugar beet and canola oil are the most vivid examples of this. Today, in many parts of the world, foodstuffs made with GMO materials do not carry labels confirming this. There is no mention of genetic engineering studies on a label or otherwise. As a result, most people do not know how often they consume GMO-containing foods or their by-products. However, it is people's right to know this.

Based on this fact, the GMO Label will soon be made mandatory. It is beneficial for manufacturers to be prepared today. People are still concerned about the safety of consuming genetically modified foods or their by-products. Naturally, if GMOs are truly safe, they want to understand why food companies are hiding it. However, scientists argue that the technology underlying GMOs is completely safe.is working. The World Health Organization is of the same opinion.

Our organization acts with a sense of responsibility in order to be with people who consciously care about their health and to help them choose the foodstuffs they will need, and tries to support manufacturers to prove their efforts in this direction.
