In this study, the gene that will provide the insect resistance feature of the maize plant was inserted into the DNA of maize using technological methods. In this way, the insect resistance feature of the corn plant has been gained. This is a gene transfer process and other existing characteristics of maize are not changed by this process. The important process after gene transfer is the testing process. In this process, the genetically modified plant is subjected to in-depth examination and testing. These studies usually take several years to complete.

In recent scientific advances in plant and animal breeding, scientists are looking for ways to create new crops and animal varieties using a process called genome editing. These techniques are meant to make changes that were previously made with conventional breeding methods easier and faster. Scientists plan to use new genome editing tools to make crops more nutritious, drought tolerant and resistant to insect pests and diseases. The genome is all of the genetic instructions used to reveal physicochemical properties in the cell, which is the most basic unit of living things.
